IMAGINING THE FUTURE

After understanding Colloquy 1968, the team began to explore what Colloquy could become in 2018. Below are the details. The approach was to create a more equalized version of the relationships among the male and female mobiles. Scripts were written and rehearsed and filmed in preparation for an ideation workshop with Rinat Sherzer.

Revenge Mode

The team proposed a scenario with the strategy of “Independent YET Co-dependent”, which empowers the female mobiles by letting them be the deciders of when the reinforcement is complete.

Title:

COLLOQUY 1968 Revenge Mode (Disagreement, A Sign of Revenge)

Theme:

Revenge

Goal:

To demand for equality among females and males in our society

Initial Proposed Description:

Exactly as COLLOQUY 1968, except, Females will randomly either:

1. Not confirm Reinforcement OR

2. Not rotating mirrors  The males' desires will increase to infinite values

Additional Hardware (beyond 1968 capabilities)

  1. Sensor to detect different colors

  2. Sensor to detect the frequency of flashing light B (maybe in 1968)

  3. Light sources capable of emitting specific colors (for example, red, green, blue)

Also:

  1. No mirror needed on female

Updated Last: Saturday, Feb 17, 2018

New Additions:

  1. Females and males both determine whether they are satisfied.

  2. By satisfying females’ drives males achieve their own goal of being incompatible.

  3. Below are procedures for the COLLOQUY 2018:

  1. Males initiate reinforcement by facing females

  2. Males proceed to reinforcement by requesting the same drive.

  3. Females request the need for color/flashing light to conclude the reinforcement.

Colloquy 2018 – Independent YET Co-dependent

  1. Female bodies: Represents three females, each consisting of:

    1. Light/photosensor that receives the u light from the lamp.

    2. Color sensor

    3. Sound sensor and sound source

    4. Rotation around self for 60º – clockwise & anticlockwise – limited to 60º

  1. Male bodies: Represents two males, each consisting of:

    1. Lamp (functions as u light) – for producing flashing light for communication of drive mode

    2. Lamp (functions as B light) – for producing color, and flashing light

    3. Light/photo sensors that receive the reflected lights

    4. Sound sensor, and sound source above the lamp

    5. Each rotates around self for 180º

    6. 2 males rotate 360º together connected by the bar

  1. Drive:  A goal to be achieved by male and female

    1. Females’ drives do not have levels. (boolean)

    2. Males’ drives have levels and exist to compete among themselves for leading a search direction.

  2. Drive O: One type of goal

  3. Drive P: One type of goal

  4. Reinforcing encounter (satisfying a drive): A process whereby the drives of males and females become satisfied, through male-female interactions. Reinforcement occurs when female and male:

    1. Are face-to-face

    2. Have the same drive mode

    3. Male produces flashing light/colored light to match the female’s need.

  5. The upper lamp: (Projecting u light):

    1. Comes from a lamp installed on the male body

    2. Represents the type of drive of the male only

    3. Acts as a blinking signal for initiating interaction between male and female

  6. The lower lamp: (Projecting B light):

    1. Comes from a lamp installed on the male body

    2. Represents a randomly-selected type of light by the male:

      1. Colored light

      2. Flashing light

  7. “a” Receptor:

    1. Installed on the female body

    2. To receive the “u” light.

    3. To initiate the sound if they have the same drive.

  8. “b” Receptor:

    1. Installed on the female body

    2. To receive the “B” light

    3. To initiate a sound
